The ‘Queen of Indian classical music’, the “Poetess of Music’ and the ‘Ultimate Saprano’, Parveen Sultana is one of the most influential female khayal vocalists of the modern era. She has a distinctively sweet voice, which displays an incredible virtuosity, clarity and purity, and covers a range of nearly four octaves. A child prodigy at the age of 12, she has one numerous awards, and mesmerized audiences throughout the world.

In this evening’s performance to bring this year’s festival to a fitting close, she is accompanied by Yogesh Samsi on Tabla, Ajay Joglekar on Harmonium, Sandeep Mishra on Sarangi and Nina Virdee — talented vocalist in her own right on Tanpura.

  3. presumably, carnatic music doesn’t count but then it’s “hindu” and all that and so does not even deserve to be counted as “indian.” I get it…
